Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road, OxfordGrade 7: £32,236 – £39,609 p.a.The Oxford Department of International Development is seeking applications for a full-time, fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Diplomatic Studies. The fixed-term role is needed for a limited time to provide cover for the substantive postholder who is on sabbatical leave for this period.The post is based at the Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road, Oxford and is fixed-term for 1 year, until 30 June 2020.You will provide teaching on international diplomacy for the Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy (MSc GGD) and carry out related research, as well as contributing the administrative work of the MSc in both term-time and vacation. You will contribute to teaching, as appropriate, on other taught master programmes in the Oxford Department of International Development, engage in student examination and assessment as well as manage your own academic research activities.You should hold, or be close to completion of, a DPhil in international relations or other related field. Have the ability to cover the diplomacy teaching in the MSc GGD and sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course materials and research proposals. Expertise and/or capacity to provide substantive knowledge and theoretical background on the paradigms, institutions and processes of international diplomacy and teach specialist courses covering major topics in international diplomacy (ideally, this should include ability to teach an option on diplomacy and international law or, alternatively, on public diplomacy [JB emphasis)). You should also have an active research and publication record commensurate with the stage of career, especially in relation to international diplomacy; the ability to teach graduate students of a high calibre in a multidisciplinary environment, and to carry out student assessment, examination and course design as well as contribute effectively to the administrative work of the MSc GGD and to work effectively with colleagues as part of an interdisciplinary team.Applications for this vacancy are to be made online.
