On November 16, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang launched the Taiwan Animation Festival at the Arts House. The three-day festival showcased five animated films: Grandma and Her Ghosts, The Elephant Apartment, On Happiness Road, Barkley, and Weather Boy. Close to 400 people attended the film screenings.
In his opening remarks, Representative Liang welcomed Wang Shaudi, Director of Grandma and Her Ghosts, to Singapore. On behalf of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, he conveyed the wish that the audience will enjoy these animated films from Taiwan. Director Wang’s visit will help spur exchanges between animators of the two countries.
With this year being the 20th anniversary of the release of Grandma and Her Ghosts, Director Wang shared some personal stories that shaped her life, entertaining the audience with his wit and humor. Although many people had seen the film before, they appreciated the opportunity to watch it again, bearing testament to the appeal of the film.
